made for the North American Aviation AT-6 Aircraft. Part number 78-53102 is 9-3/8” wide, 12” tall with 1/2” inside width. It also has a metal flip over flap on the top to hold in papers. These are “Original” new surplus wooden ones. It is rare to find these in such excellent condition. Many people get a WWII era Aircraft painted on the front and use them as “wall or hangar” art. It would make a unique gift for a pilot or WWII Memorabilia collector.
