Gorgeous Antique Meriden Silver Plate Co. quadruple plate Tea Pieces from c. 1883. "Satin Shield" Pattern. Excellent condition! Three pieces of a larger set. Offered here are a cream pitcher, the two-handled, lidded slop, and a two-handled "extra piece." Fancifully decorated with bright-cut flowers, geometric banding, oriental-inspired motifs. Wonderful examples of the American Aesthetic Movement. The finish is still very bright and unblemished. The only flaws are a tiny dent on one handle (see photographs) and the lid on the slop pot does not seat quite snugly. The original 1883 catalogue listing (see illustrations) shows two of these pieces and more, all of which could be purchased separately, as well as others that are not shown, including the little two-handled pot.
