Very interesting Korean War Era mechanical flight tabulator set for the United States Navy F2H-2 Banshee 1950’s jet spy plane. Come with three mechanical tabulators and ‘restricted’ instructions for using the mechanical calculators. The largest circular tabulator is a rest computer that calculates range for the F2H-2 based on cruising altitude, weight, etc., which has a climb and descent tabulator on the reverse. The next circular calculator is a calculator for vertical aerial photographs which would tell the F2H-2 aviator pilot,/co pilot which focal length settings, exposure interval times, shutters speeds to use at a given altitude and speed, when taking aerial photographs of ground targets. Reverse of this second mechanical disc has an exposure interval calculator at a given overlap. Used to help the crew of the F2H-2 jet calibrate the photography equipment on the F2H-2 jet which was extensively used during the Korean War to take aerial photography of North Korean positions. The third mechanical disc is an air speed correction calculator. The 8 page instruction booklet is included, two of the three staples holding it together are loose but otherwise is in good condition, marked ‘restricted.’ The waxed canvas bag that holder everything is in good shape, marked with the US navy ? Eagle symbol and is marked with the name last name ‘Kushner.’ Most likely owned by a US naval pilot/naval crew member during the Korean War. Includes a compass as well.
