    Description

A great piece of exercise history presented for the sports collector.  I picked this up at a recent flea market and want to make it available to someone who appreciates its importance.  This is a vintage, complete set of 5 exercise records "Dictated by Wallace".  This is the first pressing by Columbia Records in 1920.  These 78 RPM records are voiced by Wallace M. Rogerson, the first person to bring recorded exercise to the home.  All five records are is excellent condition and look like they've only been played a few times.  No chips, cracks, or major issues.  The labels are in near pristine condition.  The covers (sleeves) are solid, but record 5's sleeve looks like it might not be an original?  Included in this lot are the VERY rare instructional image posters.  These do have some issues.  The first has torn in half and has writing on the front and some paper loss.  The third series has a tear in it.  All of them have a small number written on the back side that corresponds with the record the images go with.
Please see the pictures and be your own judge to the issues explained/conditions of the items.
The original shipping box the set was mailed in is included and it is in solid shape.
This is taken from the internet and give a little more history of this item:
"By the 1920s, Sargent’s ideal feminine frame was extremely sought after, as evidenced by fashions of the time which hung loosely off the body. It had become important to know one’s weight, eat very carefully (sometimes very restrictive diets), and engage in aerobic exercise at home.
During this period, Reducing Records were a popular form of private physical training. Ladies were encouraged to “get thin to music” at home along with Wallace M. Rogerson by using his sensibly named “Dictated by Wallace” series of 78 rpm records. The records even included handy instructional images. Sitting on the floor with legs outstretched, the “fitness-control” pupil is instructed to lift one leg at a time into the air. A plinky orchestral recording plays in the background as Wallace firmly calls out, “one, two, one, two” and “right, left, right, left”. His thin voice sounds like he’s a tiny drill sergeant in a tin can."

The records alone sell for - each.  Though the instruction image posters do have some issues, they are extremely hard to find.  Plus it comes in the original shipping box!  This is a piece of history that is unique, rare, and a must have for the serious sports collector.  I will securely package with bubble wrap/packing foam.  It will ship using USPS First Class Mail.
If you have questions please ask since there are no returns accepted.
