Vintage Homer Laughlin Kraft Blue Pattern 7 1/4" Salad Plates - Set of 2Very Nice Set of 2 Kraft Blue Pattern Salad Plates made by Homer Laughlin starting in 1937. Kraft Blue Pattern is described as "solid blue, thick embossed rope border." Designed by Frederick Rhead, this pattern started off mimicking some Germany Pottery he admired, but he designed a new line would be unlike colored bodies produced by other potteries in that the applied handles and finials were made in a white clay producing contrasting colors with hollowware. The Kraft Blue and later the Kraft Pink Line were made until the mid-1950s. A second line, Skytone, also used the blue body clay based on the Jubilee line and the Kraft line was discontinued for these more modern looking patterns.
These Plates are 7 1/4" diameter and in a light blue color. They are marked on the bottom the original Kraft Blue markings in green ink.. They are in very good used condition free of any chips, cracks or crazing. They do have some minimal utensils marks but nothing distracting to take away from the overall beauty of these plates. Perfect to use in your kitchen as a spring time display or worked well for replacement pieces for some plates that have seen better days.
